MC60 Quectel Development Board Overview

The MC60E is a quad-band, full-featured GSM/GPRS/GNSS module that utilizes an LCC castellation package. It is fully pin-to-pin compatible with the Quectel MC60 module and supports both Bluetooth 4.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 specifications. The inclusion of Bluetooth 4.0 allows for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, which is characterized by ultra-low peak, average, and idle mode power consumption. This makes the MC60E particularly suitable for applications that require energy-efficient Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Additionally, the module supports Dual SIM Single Standby functionality.

The module also incorporates AlwaysLocate™ and GLP (GNSS Low Power) power-saving modes, ensuring excellent positioning accuracy while maintaining ultra-low power consumption. The built-in Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) enhances the module’s RF sensitivity and delivers exceptional acquisition and tracking performance, even in areas with weak signals.

MC60 Quectel Development Board Features

  • Integrated GPRS and GNSS engines — Combines quad-band GSM/GPRS cellular connectivity and multi-constellation GNSS in a single ultra-compact SMT package.
  • EPOTM technology — Provides predicted Extended Prediction Orbit data to significantly accelerate Time to First Fix (TTFF) without requiring an external server or network assistance.
  • QuecFastFix Online — Uses online EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit) data to further reduce TTFF during cold starts, enabling faster positioning in real-world scenarios.
  • EASY™ technology — Allows very fast first fix even with limited or outdated satellite information by intelligently calculating orbits locally.
  • AlwaysLocate™ — Intelligent power-saving mode that dynamically adjusts GNSS operation based on environmental and motion conditions to optimize power consumption while maintaining positioning availability.
  • GLP (GNSS Low Power) mode — Ensures excellent positioning accuracy with minimal power draw, ideal for battery-powered tracking and wearable applications.
  • Built-in Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) — Improves RF sensitivity for superior GNSS acquisition and tracking performance, even in weak-signal environments such as indoors or urban canyons.
