FAQ #

What is the SIM800C Mini DB?

The SIM800C Mini DB is a breadboard-friendly breakout board for the SIM800C GSM/GPRS module, offering full Quad-Band 2G connectivity in a tiny, easy-to-use package.

Which frequency bands are supported?

Full Quad-Band: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz – global 2G coverage.

Does this board include GNSS or Bluetooth?

No. The SIM800C version supports only GSM/GPRS. It has a Bluetooth antenna pad but Bluetooth is not functional in this module. For GNSS+BT, choose the SIM868 version.

How to power the SIM800C Mini DB?

Supply 5V via the +5 pin (P2-10) or USB port. Onboard 2A switching regulator</ geïn provides stable 3.4–4.4 V. Peak current during TX bursts can reach ~1.6–2 A.

Is an external GSM antenna required?

Yes – connect an antenna to the GSM ANT U.FL connector. No onboard GSM antenna is provided.

How to send AT commands?

Use the main UART (TX/RX) pins (P1-3 & P1-4) or connect via USB (appears as virtual COM port). Full AT command set (3GPP + SIMCom enhanced) is supported.

What do the two LEDs indicate?

D1 (NETLIGHT): Network status (blinking patterns show searching/registered/idle)
D2: Power indication (ON when module is powered)

Can I make voice calls?

Yes – differential MICP/MICN inputs and SPKP/SPKN outputs are available for microphone and speaker connection.

What are the board dimensions?

Ultra-compact: 32.6 × 26 mm – perfect for breadboard prototyping and final integration.

What is the operating temperature range?

Industrial grade: −40 °C to +85 °C
